Abid was born and raised in Punjab, Pakistan where he obtained his BS in Geography (2016) and MS in Remote Sensing & GIS (2020) at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad. He has worked as a research assistant at the GREL Lab IST and as a remote sensing specialist at Galaxy Rice Mills and Kashtkaar organizations. Abid's research involved applying remote sensing towards solving the problems of agriculture, vegetation, and climate change.
Abid is currently a research assistant working with Dr. Hanan on the NASA-funded GEDI project. His recent work focuses on monitoring the patterns and drivers of tree height and biomass in water-limited (tropical and temperate) ecosystems.
In his spare time, Abid loves to go on hikes and watch movies and cricket. His favorite cricket team is the Karachi Kings in the PSL.
